The highlight of the islands that the resort calls home is the 5.6 kilometre private lagoon that surrounds it; an awe-inspiring azure spectacle that inspires a sense of calm.

Located on the stunning island of Medhufaru, the resort is surrounded by five private islands in the Maldives’ Noonu Atoll. A spectacular castaway experience awaits guests at this retreat, featuring beautifully-designed interiors made from the highest quality sustainable materials. Twenty-four Water Retreats open to the sparkling lagoon and are complete with a private pool and a retractable roof to stargaze from the master bedroom, while many have slides into the water below. Three island villas are nestled in the island foliage, steps from the sandy beach.

The culinary experiences at Soneva Jani are as diverse as they are memorable. They offer gourmet menus across a variety of cultures and cuisines, organic offerings, beach barbeques and elaborate romantic escapades. In addition to the delightful dining venues, you can indulge in culinary adventures such as private dining around the lagoon, a castaway picnic, organic garden lunches and cooking classes.

Explore the glimmering galaxies from the resort’s state-of-the-art observatory, far from the obscuring lights of civilization. Spend your time indulging in a range of activities including water sports, wellness therapies, scuba diving, dolphin cruises and bicycling along the island’s many trails.

This island hideaway can be reached by a scenic 30-minute seaplane flight direct from Malé International airport or by a 60-minute speedboat ride from Soneva Fushi.

Chapter One: Water Retreats & Island Retreats

With one to four bedrooms, our 24 Water Retreats all have private pools. Most feature waterslides into the lagoon and a retractable roof over the master bedroom. Hidden away, the two-bedroom island villa is a private haven.

Chapter Two: Water Reserves & Island Reserves

With one to four bedrooms, our 27 new Water Reserves are slightly larger than our original overwater villas. Located steps from the beach, our Island Reserves include private pools and expansive indoor and outdoor living space.

This spacious over-water villa features a retractable roof over the master bedroom that slides back at the touch of a button to reveal starry skies. With direct access into the lagoon, the signature outdoor bathroom has a shower and sunken bath. The large outdoor deck features a private freshwater pool, a sunken dining area, daybeds, swing, and catamaran nets.

2 Bedroom Crusoe Reserve with Slide

Hidden away by a stand of mangrove trees, this two-bedroom residence is a private haven with a swimming pool, slide, expansive wooden decks, and a spacious children’s room.

This two-bedroom beachfront villa has a swimming pool and slide that hugs the façade, with two catamaran nets for lounging in the sun. The master bedroom, situated at the back of the villa has an outdoor bathroom with a bath and two showers encircled by a water feature. The open plan dining room and kitchen comes with a wine vault, which can be used as a library. The living room has a deep horseshoe-shaped daybed and guest toilet.

Upstairs, the guest bedroom has an en suite bathroom with a shower. Connected to the guest bedroom is a children’s room. Overlooking the lagoon is a large balcony with deep daybeds and an outdoor dining table.

With a pool, catamaran nets, sunken seating and daybeds, the Two Bedroom Water Retreat with Slide affords a wealth of tropical lounging opportunities. The ground floor offers a spacious bedroom with retractable roof, bathroom, dressing room, outdoor shower and bath with private access to the lagoon. The pantry and minibar, TV lounge and children’s sleeping area are also located on the ground floor. The second bedroom is located on the upper floor, along with an additional dressing room, bathroom, seating area, water slide, and a dining sala with a roof.

This three-bedroom beachfront villa has a viewing tower crowned with a dining table, which is the highest point on the island.

Villa 34’s wholly unique design is inspired by the gentle, undulating curves that are found in nature. This three-bedroom beachfront villa is a sprawling 1,956 sqm with not a straight line in sight. It has a freshwater swimming pool and children’s pool with its own water slide. There is also a children’s treehouse by the pool.

This 4 Bedroom Water Retreat with Slide is our idea of what over-water living should be like, with a sprawling 1,291 square metres of luxurious living space and uninterrupted views in every direction.

This villa features four private bedrooms, and an additional bedroom that can sleep children or adults. There is also a study, gym, an outdoor shower and bath with private access to the lagoon, TV lounge, pantry, minibar, in-villa wine vault, as well as a water slide into the lagoon below.

An expansive beachfront suite, the Four Bedroom Island Reserve affords a wealth of luxury while allowing for customisation depending on your requirements. Spacious indoor-outdoor living areas abound, including a steam bath, changing room, sauna, master bedroom, TV lounge, dining room, private pool, kitchen, and wine vault. The second floor is home to a further three bedrooms with bathrooms and dressing rooms, and the villa’s private gym.

The heart of the resort, the Gathering is a three-storey overwater structure that is home to various dining outlets, as well as the spa, library, retail area, The Den and wine cellar.

Also housed within The Gathering are So Imaginative, The Gathering Wine Cellar, Down To Earth, So Engaging, The Gathering Bar and So Cool.

Crab Shack

With an upstairs deck to watch sunsets from, try the Sri Lankan Mud Crab curry, or the Alaskan crabs that rotate through the week. A selection of rosés are the highlight of the drinks menu. Recently voted as the ‘World’s Most Romantic Restaurant’ on CNN.com.

So Imaginative

Seating up to 20 guests, So Imaginative is a private room perfect for celebrations. Our sommeliers can create inspired wine tastings and wine dinners here, selecting the perfect pairings from the wine tower.

So Engaging is our chef’s table, which offers a mystery menu for five very special guests. Get a front row seat to the action, and converse with our chef as he prepares exciting, delicious dishes for his guests of honour.

Guess who’s Cooking

Dine on a secret menu, prepared by one of our chefs, in a secret, ever-changing location. There is no menu, with each dish tailored to your preferences. Our chef will reveal themselves only after the meal, to talk about the concept, ingredients and what inspired them.

Cinema Paradiso

Watch classic and contemporary favourites beneath the stars or take your Cinema Paradiso experience to new heights and book a private viewing. This can be done while our chefs craft you a menu of comfort food and nibbles. Refreshing cocktails, complimentary popcorn and ice creams can also be arranged.

Turtle on Call

Get a glimpse into the lives of some of the Maldives’ sea turtles with the help of our Marine Biologist. Don’t miss your chance to see a mother turtle lay her eggs in the sand, tiny hatchlings make their way to the ocean, or come to the aid of turtles who need assistance.

Garden to Table

The organic gardens at Soneva Jani provide our kitchens and those of Soneva Fushi with fruit, vegetables and herbs. While providing the freshest of produce for our guests, having our own gardens also lowers our carbon emissions. Tour the garden with our Horticulturist and pick the ingredients or your garden lunch, you can also plant a tree sapling to commemorate your stay.

Soneva Spa

Learn new skills and rethink your lifestyle with a focus on wellness. Our in-house therapist can help you heal and move. The Spa is complemented by our fully-equipped gym and yoga pavilion, outdoor spa champas, sauna and steam rooms.

Marine Conservation Expedition

To truly understand the fragility of coral reefs in our oceans and how you can help better protect them join our Marine Biologist on a number of tasks. Under their guidance, you will take part in a beach clean-up on an inhabited island, followed by a micro-plastic survey, coral bleaching survey, and a snorkel session.

Local Fishing Experience

The Maldivian way of life revolves around the ocean, it provides them with their food and many of their livelihoods. Our local fisherman, Jawa, will take you out on a traditional wooden dhoni, then you can choose to either bottom line fishing or trawling. Your catch of the day will be prepared to your liking for dinner back at Soneva Jani.

Observatory

Visit the first overwater Observatory in the Maldives, where you can see constellations in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. Let our resident Astronomers guide you through the magic of space and share their knowledge of how ancient cultures used the night sky to navigate, harvest, hunt and teach.

Coral Planting

Indulge your ocean steward when you take part in our coral planting initiative at Soneva Jani. You will be able to tie coral to the planting frames before they are lowered to the sandy bottom. Every six months we will keep you updated on the progress of the coral you planted.

Private Beach Dinner

An exclusive invite to a private beach dinner on the South Beach of our lagoon, only a short boat ride away from the Gathering. Take your place at a table on the water’s edge and enjoy a bespoke menu, created to suit your culinary palate.

Dolphin Safari

Get ready to watch dozens of playful dolphins in the light of the setting sun. While you cruise deeper into the waters, you will be served a selection of canapés and flute of Champagne.
